"Fatal Crash in Jim Hogg County Takes the Lives of Jaime Barrera Jr., Andres Botello, and Jose Guadalupe Cepeda Lara"

 JIM HOGG COUNTY, TX. (KGNS) - A tragic collision in Hebbronville early Wednesday morning claimed the lives of three individuals.

The devastating incident occurred on November 8, 2023, around 5 a.m.

As per the Department of Public Safety (DPS), the collision involved a GMC Sierra and a 2016 Chevrolet, which was being used as an ambulance.

Jaime Barrera Jr., a 27-year-old from Roma, Texas, was identified as the driver of the GMC Sierra.

The ambulance driver was identified as Andres Botello, a 66-year-old resident of Zapata, Texas. Jose Guadalupe Cepeda Lara, a 23-year-old from Zapata, Texas, accompanied him as a passenger.

Initial reports from DPS suggest that the traveling westbound GMC Sierra crossed the eastbound lane of Highway 16, resulting in a head-on collision with the ambulance.

Regrettably, all three individuals - Botello, Barrera, and Lara - were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Zapata County Sheriff's Office conveyed their sympathies for the lives lost in this tragic accident through a social media post.
